Welcome to PersonDesk ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using our website, apps, and peer support services, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use PersonDesk.

Peer-Support & Digital Wellness Disclaimer

PersonDesk is an anonymous peer-support platform. It is not a licensed medical, psychiatric, or crisis service.

  • Nothing on PersonDesk, including conversations with listeners, Hot Takes, community posts, stories, journal prompts, or wellness games, is medical, psychiatric, psychological, or clinical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
  • Using PersonDesk does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-client, or any other professional care relationship between you and PersonDesk, its listeners, or other users.
  • PersonDesk cannot dispatch emergency services or guarantee that anyone will respond in an emergency. The Trusted Contact feature only sends a message to a person you chose; it does not alert emergency services.
  • PersonDesk is not a substitute for professional care. Never ignore professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read or heard on PersonDesk.
  • If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, call your local emergency number (112 in Nigeria, or 767 in Lagos) or go to the nearest hospital now.

1. Scope of Service (Non-Clinical Peer Support)

PersonDesk provides an anonymous, text-based platform that connects people looking for peer support with volunteer listeners, and hosts community spaces such as Hot Takes, Community Stories, and journals.

  • Not therapy or medical advice: PersonDesk is not a healthcare, therapy, or medical provider. Our listeners are volunteers, not licensed medical, psychiatric, or psychological professionals.
  • Not a crisis service: PersonDesk is not equipped for life-threatening emergencies, active suicidal thoughts, self-harm crises, or domestic violence intervention. If you are in danger, contact local emergency services or a crisis helpline right away.

2. Accounts, Anonymity & Email

  • Anonymous posting: You can drop a Hot Take without an email or account. It is published as "Anonymous".
  • Email for reactions and replies: Viewing vote results, replies, and other reaction details on a Hot Take requires adding an email to your session.
  • Email for community spaces: Posting inside a community, voting with a handle, and replying require a registered email, agreement to the safety rules, and a handle.
  • Your email is never shown to other users. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for activity under your account.

3. User Conduct & Community Safety

To keep PersonDesk safe and supportive, all users and volunteer listeners agree not to:

  • Harass, bully, threaten, demean, or send abusive language to any user or volunteer listener.
  • Share sexually explicit material, hate speech, or content that promotes violence or self-harm.
  • Try to uncover, ask for, or disclose identifying information (real names, phone numbers, addresses, social handles, or locations) of any user or listener.
  • Use PersonDesk for commercial solicitation, spam, or fraud.

We may remove content, limit posting, or suspend access for anyone who breaks these rules. Anonymous posting is rate limited to prevent abuse.

4. Your Content

  • You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you allow PersonDesk to host, display, and moderate it on the platform.
  • Photos and videos you attach (videos up to 200 MB) must be yours to share and must follow the conduct rules above.
  • Do not include identifying details about yourself or others in public posts.

5. Off-Platform Contact

Exchanging contact details (phone numbers, email, social media, or messaging apps) to move a support conversation off PersonDesk is not allowed, for the safety of both people.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

PersonDesk uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your settings, and record that you accepted these terms. See our Cookie & Storage Policy.

7. Limitation of Liability

PersonDesk is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or any particular emotional outcome from using our peer support features. You use the service at your own discretion and risk.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. When we make a significant change, we will ask you to accept the updated terms the next time you visit.
